Tim Gunn’s 10 Essential Wardrobe Items

When it comes to building a wardrobe up, there may be some hesitancy. You may be overwhelmed with all the different types and styles there is. This is where the fabulous Tim Gunn comes in. He is one of the most amazing people out there who has created a simple list of items necessary for every woman/girl to have in their wardrobe. Once you have these 10 items, you can go on to build around them. Believe me, it will definitely help a LOT.

1. Basic Black Dress

2. Trench coat

3. Classic dress pants

4. Classic white shirt

5. Skirt

6. Blazer

7. Day dress

8. Cashmere sweater

9. Jeans

10. Sweats

Basic Black Dress: This is a no brainer. Every woman/girl should have a little black dress. It is so versatile and will NEVER go out of style.

Trench Coat: This item allows to cinch the waist in and flair out in the bottom. It can work with many different figures and looks good on all, if you pick out the right one for your body!

Classic Dress Pants and classic white shirt: Come on now, everyone knows you need to have these. Let it be for an interview, work attire, or even a graduation. You can dress them up as well as dress them down by pairing them with different things.

Skirt: When it comes to a skirt, make sure you pick one that goes WITH YOUR FIGURE. There is no problem with wearing short skirts but keep in mind, it has to look good on YOU, not the model you saw it on. It seems as though this season, maxi skirts are back once again.

Blazer: Now this is the gem of everyone’s wardrobe. A blazer can be used to dress up an outfit or dress down the outfit. It all depends on the color, the cut, and what you pair it with. You can NEVER have enough blazers especially since they have been in style for the past few seasons.

Day Dress: This type of dress is not bought very frequently or worn by many but every woman should have one in their closet. This can be worn on a day when you spontaneously want to dress up a bit but don’t want to overdo it.

Cashmere sweater: Why has one of these? Well if you take care of it correctly, you will have it for quite a long time. Not to mention, it can be paired up with pretty much anything and give it a classy look.

Jeans: If you are surprised to see this on the list, feel very silly. This is the number one ESSENTIAL in every woman’s wardrobe. Now they might not be the most comfortable pieces but here’s a little tip, they definitely keep your shape in check. What do I mean about this? Jeans hold everything in and don’t allow your body to fall apart. I’ll go into this observation later on in another entry.

Sweats: The last of the ten essentials needed in a wardrobe. Everyone should have a few pairs of sweats to use on those extremely lazy days where you don’t want to doll yourself up to the T.

Countertop/Storage Organization Tip #1

Here's a quick organizational tip for you guys. I bought this contraption [i don't know why but i really wanted to use that word today] at staples a while back and boy will it do wonders for your organization. I keep one of these on my bathroom countertop and boy do i love it! This can be used to hold brushes that are frequently being used. Since there are three shallow compartments, you could use one for clean face brushes, one for clean eye brushes, and one for the dirty brushes. In the middle you can keep a little spray bottle, but just warning you, it's going to have to be a narrow one. In the smaller compartments, you can keep single eyeshadows, hair ties, clips, etc. Believe me, it keeps you very organized and saves you a lot of space!

Haul: Let's Get a Little Wet n Wild!

As I was driving up to my parents' place, I thought I'd take a quick detour. I stopped off at Walgreen's and the Dollar Tree. I wanted to see if the new Wet N Wild Holiday Palettes came in at Walgreen's [no such luck]. I really want those palettes! All four of them, if possible! Anyways, I ended up picking up a few other things instead.

The three Wet n Wild items were from Walgreen's and the Max Factor eyeshadow was from the Dollar Store. The Wet n Wild eye-shadows were AMAZING. I couldn't believe how pigmented they were. I ended up buying the single eye-shadows for 99 CENTS and the palette for only 1.99! How crazy is that? I think you all should go out and buy these eye-shadows right now; especially if you are just starting off with makeup. These palettes would be great for you. The third color from the left is obviously a brown, sorry you can't really see it, it sort of blends in with my skin tone!

As for the Max Factor eyeshadow, I really wasn't a big fan of it. I don't even like blue eye-shadows but since it was Max Factor, I thought I should pick it up regardless. It was only a dollar after all. What harm can that be, right?

Overall, I love the Wet n Wild palettes and will probably go back and pick up the rest of the permanent collection and definitely all of the Holiday palettes after they come out! If anyone does get a hold of these, I'll pay you for the shipping and the amount for the palettes, if you can get them to me!

I came across this survey randomly a while ago and never got around to doing it, so I figured I'd make it into a tag =). It seems really fun! Here we go:

1. What is your favorite way to shop? Online or in the actual store?
It really depends in my opinion. When it comes to things like bags, shoes, accessories, I LOVE shopping online but for clothing, I prefer to go into the store.

2. What is your favorite store?
Lately it has been ASOS and Bloomingdales. I don't know why but there's just something about their clothes that make me really happy, especially ASOS.

3. What store do you buy the most things from?
I don't really have any particular store. I usually walk in somewhere, look around, and if I like something, I'll buy it. I'm not one of those people that HAS to buy clothing at a certain store.

4. What is your favorite thing to shop for?
I have to say my favorite THINSG to shop for are accessories, bags, and shoes. If I had to choose between the three, shoes definitely come first and then bags.

5. Do you usually pay with case, credit, check or debit?
Debit. If I don't have the ability to pay for something, I don't buy. My motto =].

6. Are you addicted to shopping?
I am addicted to browsing sites, filling up my cart and emptying them lol.

7. Are you in major debt because of shopping?
Nope, as long as I follow my motto, I should be all set.

8. How often do you go to the mall?
Not much of a mall person. I rather go to department stores or just stores in general. I don't know why but malls aren't my thing really.

9. What is the last thing you bought?
A pair of shoes.

10. What store was it from?
Boutique near my parents' place.

11. Who is your favorite person to shop for?
Besides myself lol? I'd have to say my mommy!

12. Would you ever buy clothes at walmart?
Basic essentials.

13. Do you own a pair of shoes that cost more than 200 dollars?
Why yes, I do.

14. Do you ever use coupons?
Coupons are my best friend!

15. Do you buy most of your clothes on clearance?
I always look in the clearance section but MOST of my clothes aren't from there.

16. Have you ever shopped till you dropped?
Yes, that usually seems to be the case when I go shopping with my mother lol.

17. Do you ever try things on at the store?
No, I don't like going through the hassle. If something doesn't fit, I can always return it!

18. Who is your favorite person to go shopping with?
My mommy or my best friend.

19. Do you choose paper or plastic?
For some reason, I really love the paper bags ha ha.

20. Do you use a basket, cart, or nothing?
I use a cart, if it's not a quick in and out trip.

21. When you check out, is the total always more or less than you thought?
It always ends up being less, apparently I'm not very good at calculating percentages lol.

22. Are you an impulse shopper?
Not with more expensive things I'm not.

23. Do you always buy the candy that they sell next to the registers?
Nope, the one thing I don't do! I always think that the oldest candy is put near the register lol.

24. If you had to pick one thing, shopping or chocolate, which one would you pick?
Shopping of course, silly!

Rimmel Max Volume Flash Mascara Review

I checked this mascara out after I heard The Current Custom talking about it in one of her videos and I absolutely love it. It does a great job at giving your lashes volume as well as lengthening them somewhat. I really enjoy how it does not clump your lashes either. I usually combine this mascara with CoverGirl Lash Blast Length and get amazing results. That way I end up getting both voluminous and lengthy lashes. The price is amazing too. I ended up buying the mascara for about 6 dollars at my local CVS.

The one thing that really attracted me to this product was the packaging. I mean come on guys, IT'S PINK. I have a tendency to be attracted to pink things and sparkly things too but that's for another day. Anyways! You guys really need to check this product out. I mean just the price itself is pretty inexpensive for a mascara; not to mention the fact that the quality is pretty great for a drug store product.

1. I have three brother and am the only girl in my family. I am definitely the daddy's girl/mommy's girl and spoiled but only with things my parents can afford! =)

2. Spicy food is my favorite food in the world. My mom makes the yummiest spicy food and should really open a restaurant but refuses to!

3. I am also a shoe addict and clothes addict. I always go online and go pretend shopping at places like Bloomingdale's, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Barney's and Henri Bendel. I only end up buying things, once every blue moon...I tend to save a lot of money and then go all out and spend it.

Parachute Coconut Oil Review

So I was aimlessly walking through my local Indian grocery store, waiting for my mom to finish picking up her spices and what not, when I came across this beauty! Parachute Coconut Oil definitely brings back childhood memories. My mom used to give me a hot oil hair treatment every week when I was younger. *Sigh* The good old days that revolved around having extremely healthy hair with very few split ends and hair that was double the thickness of what it is now. Boy, do I miss those days!

I stopped using this hair oil when I was about 12. That's when my hair stopped looking gorgeous. I thought I knew better and didn't need a hot oil hair treatment every week. In the past 8 years since I stopped using this product, I have not found another oil product to my liking.

So of course I picked some up and have gone back to working this beauty into my hair every week. I can personally say I love this oil. It has done nothing but wonders for my hair. It "supposedly" thickens your hair the more you use it but I can't prove that. I'll def let you guys know if there is any truth behind that statement. But in the mean time, I think everyone should go and pick up some of this product. I do have one warning though, if you are NOT a fan of coconut oil, this is NOT for you. This product has a very strong coco-nutty smell to it, just a huge warning. So go out and buy this at your local Indian Grocery store and if you can't find it there, then you can buy it off of amazon or google. The product is very cheap compared to many other hair oils out there.

Hair and Body Haul Featuring Eden Allure

Long time no write, lovey ladies! Let's me first apologize for being M.I.A. I'm soo sorry! I have been working non-stop helping my parents out with their business, so I haven't been online much. As a matter of fact, my friends have been wondering if I fell off the face of the earth!

Anyways enough rambling, let's get onto the goodies! I finally caved in and bought some products from Eden Allure. For those of you who haven't heard of Eden Allure, they are a company that sells pure Moroccan oil and products infused with Moroccan oil. I ended up getting three different products from their company.

So here we go, I have become very into going to the gym. As a matter of fact, I signed up for a gym and will be going starting next week! I am in dire need to get back into shape. During the past few months I have been eating extremely unhealthy and tons of junk food. [NOT GOOD]. So now my goal is to stop shopping and get onto Project Body Makeover!

Many new gymmers [is that even a word?] don't know what exactly to bring, so this is a little insight to you guys! Let me know what you guys keep in your gym bags, if you go to a gym!

My pretty lavender bag from adidas<3!

Overview of what you'll find in my bag. *Yes my shoes are pink =)*

[Deodrant, Gum, Tynenol, Midol, Comb, Headbands, Hairties, Hand Sanitizer]

This right here, is my lifesaver packet. Everything I could possibly need is in this bag!

Tip: Always keep a pair or two pairs of socks in your bag to change into after working out!

I keep some hand towels as well as a wash cloth in my bag. The hand towel is for myself while the wash cloth is to wipe down machines.

I don't like my gym bag smelling of sweat, so I end up keeping my sweaty clothes in this bag after working out. This way I can just toss the whole bag into the laundry after getting home.

I also keep a pair of workout pants and a tee in my bag. This way if I go to the gym after work, then I can just change at the gym. It's always great to be prepared!

That is really all I keep in my gym bag. I don't take anything valuable to the gym because I can't afford to loose any of my valuable things. I hope you guys enjoyed this! Let me know what you guys keep inside your gym/fitness/workout bags! =)

Update: Where Have You Gone?

Hello Lovelies,

I am soo sorrry for going M.I.A but I have been really busy with a bunch of stuff. I do have a few updates that I would like to let you guys in on! For one thing, I have decided to move my P365 to flickr because it seems to have taken over my blogspot. I know some people want me to keep this blog strictly fashion, beauty, and reviews so I think I'll do that. So if you guys want to go and check out my P365, make sure to check out my flickr!

Another big update has to do with the upcoming posts that I plan on doing. I have is a few hauls that I have coming up. Do you guys want me to do a video as well as a post? I am also going to do a closet organization post because as some of you know, I have been moving my things back into my parents' house and my closet there is a holy mess. For the past week, I've been trying to figure out what to do with my closet, it's definitely a work in progress!

Sakura Gardens

One of the best, best, best sushi places out there! If you google it, you'll know exactly where it is! I just love the ambiance of the place. The people here were so generous and nice. They are a bit pricey but I have to say, I loved the roll I picked out. I forget the actual name of it but I know for sure that it was a chef's special. Here is a picture of what it looks like. Don't mind my pictures, I took them with my phone, so the quality isn't all that great!

This sushi dish was absolutely heaven. I somehow always end up picking an amazind sushi dish, my friend always complains about it! Let me see if I can find the name of the dish on their website! No luck, it's not up there but if you end up going to the place, take the picture with you, maybe the waiter/waitress will be able to tell you what it is!

2. So Alyssa, how did you get into blogging/youtubing?

I started how most girls did. I was addicted to watching tutorials and reviews on YouTube & thought "if they can do it, so can I" lol

3. Which do you like doing better of the two and why?

YouTube, because I get to show more of my personality and people tend to like to watch more than they like to read.

4. How did you come up with your youtube name?

It was something I read in magazine years ago, about 5 to be exact with one of my good friends & I fell in love with the sound of "charming royalty" haha.

5. Besides youtube/blogging, what are some of your hobbies?

Reading, music and poetry. I'd be lost without those things.

6. Some people don’t understand that there is a life besides youtube/blogging, if you don’t mind, how would you describe your typical day?

A typical day... I would be taking care of my little brother and trying to help my mom out around the house and then work.

7. Now let’s get a little crazy here, shall we? What is one of your most embarrassing moments?

Oh man lol, it would have to be when I was entering the hall at my cousins wedding. Everyone was seated and looking at the entrance every time someone was walking in. So me, my sister and brother-in-law are now standing at the front of the entrance looking to see what side was our family was seated on and of course everyone is starring, and then the next step I took, I fell. And everyone saw lol.

8. When did you first begin to have an interest in makeup/fashion?

I've always been interested in fashion and make-up since I was little, but I didn't start wearing make-up until I was 17 which was when I graduated high school.

9. Which do you prefer dabbling in more, makeup or fashion?

Fashion.

You Can Be Fashionable Even When You Protect Yourself

When you are a girl, it is always hard to trust people. I know I sound sexist but girls are prone to being put into tough situations. That's why I believe every girl, scratch that, every person should have protection on them. My mom doesn't really approve of carrying a knife, since she says it's very "unladylike". Honestly, if someone was to come at me and try to rape me, I would be as unladylike as I can and do everything to get away from that person; even if it means hurting him/her. The one thing I cannot tolerate is when someone forces him or herself onto another person.

There is a really funny story on how I came upon this knife in a lipstick tube. I was watching a TV series called Chuck, and there was a scene where the agent uses a lipstick knife as one of the weapons as part of her mission. That knife definitely caught my eye. Wow, how crazy do I sound? I just thought it was really cute. I mean who would ever expect a knife to be concealed in a lipstick tube? How great would that be to own. I am thinking of getting one especially since I plan on moving to the city during this summer and you can never be careful.

One of the only reason that my mother doesn't want me to move to the city is because she doesn't trust the sketchy people in the city. I understand where she is coming from but honestly, my parents taught me street smarts. They taught me to use the common sense that god graced me with as well as logic. I mean think about it. A lot of incidents can be avoided if a person doesn't go out by his or herself at night. I'm not saying that every incident works like that. There are crazy people out there but sometimes common sense is the one thing that will end up saving you in the end. I don't really want to start a rant on how to stay safe, I just wanted to show you girls the cutest and most fashionable knife that is out there. Not to mention it is very very affordable. Also no one is sponsoring me to mention this knife, so please don't bite my head off, thanks! I just really loved this knife and am looking forward to buying it soon. When I do buy it, I'll do a review on if it's good quality or not.

It's almost 5 in the morning and I haven't gone to bed yet, I think it's time for me to hit the hay! Good night lovelies<3!

Obession, Forgotten Key, 2 Hour Drive

It's official, I am totally obsessed with this song. I probably played it over 40 times in the past three days. I found this song last year but I found it in my playlist three days ago and now it's playing nonstop. HELP! lol.

I'm soo sorry I have been MIA this past week, soo much has been going on. I started off the week with leaving my house key at my parents' house and when I called the super up, the guy didn't pick up his phone. How lovely. So I sat in my car for about 2 hours looking like a sketchy creepster waiting for him to call me back. No luck =(. I couldn't even go to class because all my stuff was inside my apt. Good Stuff! I started getting annoyed after 2 hours of him not calling me back. Mind you this guy never leaves his apt and his job consists of just making sure his tenants are happy. I wasn't. Long story short, I ended up driving 2 hours back to my parents' house. Sure enough, I got made fun of my stupidity ha ha. I drove back the next day and you guys will never guess what time the guy called me back? THE NEXT DAY. -_-.

Besides that, I had a lot of personal stuff as well as school going on. Classes end in two weeks and then a week of finals, sooo I've been extremely busy studying for my finals for in school as well as trying to finish off the classes I am taking online. If I end up being MIA for the next couple of weeks, I'm sorry!

Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eyeliner Pencil

Eyeliners are one thing that I am very obsessed with. While there are an assortment of eyeliners out there, there is a certain criteria that I have when I go to buy one. My criteria consists of intensity, creaminess, and durability.

Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil passed the test with flying colors. The intensity of this liner is amazing. When it comes to black eyeliners, I am a very fan of the intense dark ones. I cannot stand when an eyeliner says intensely black and it comes out in a gray shade. If I buy the eyeliner from a drugstore, I usually find out how intense it is after I open it. Then I'm too embarrassed/lazy to return the item, so it just sits in the drawer mocking me. Anyways, I am getting off topic, so yes this eyeliner does have an intensity to it. I haven't tried out the gold, brown, or turquoise one but plan on buying them soon.

Back to the topic at hand, let's continue this before I go off on another tangent. The creaminess of this pencil is UH-MAZING. Besides Urban Decay 24/7 Liner, I don't think I have come across a liner that was as creamy as this one for a price like this. It cost me only 5.99 and when I went to go buy it, CVS was having a sale ; buy 1 get 1 50% off. So I ended up buying two because of how cheap it was.

The last part of the criteria is durability. Some eyeliners do have the creaminess and intensity but the durability ends up being horrible. You can apply this in the morning and keep it on all day without having to touch it up.
If you are in a drugstore like CVS, look up this eyeliner, it is pretty great for a drugstore brand. Milani in general is a great line of makeup. In fact, one of my makeup obsessed friends once said, "Honestly, Milani is the MAC of the drugstore brand."and I totally agree. There line has a bunch of great products. If you want a more in-depth review, you should watch emilynoel83's review on it. She did a great review on it and if you aren't convinced by this review, you will definitely want to go out and buy it.

Also if you can't find it in a CVS or drugstore near you, you can go to cherryculture.com and buy it off of their website. I believe it is cheaper online, then it is in-stores.

Let's see how this works out for me! I should go and buy myself a scale from CVS. I don't need a really expensive one, as long as it can weigh me, I AM FINE. I want to lose 20-30 pounds and tone up by December 06, 2009! Let's see if I can make the goal! Def buying a scale when I get back from campus today!
